Lydd Rifle Club is formed from a relatively small group of individuals from all walks of life and a broad spectrum of ages who share a common interest in the sport of shooting. Although primarily a full bore rifle club our members enjoy shooting a wide range of weapons including .22rimfire, Gallery rifle (under lever carbines), black powder pistol/rifle, and full bore rifle both sporting and target. We also have a healthy contingent of members dedicated to old military weapons from both World Wars. We shoot twice a month on Military Ranges at Hythe and Lydd with ranges varying from 25m to 1100m. On occasions we arrange for a day at Bisley for any members who fancy a change of venue and between our shoots get together for a day at a local clay shoot for anyone who is interested. Whilst we take the sport seriously we also try to ensure that everybody has a good enjoyable day. Our aim is to promote to sport of shooting in all its various forms and encourage the safe handling and ownership of firearms by responsible citizens. |

AGM The AGM will take place at 11am on Saturday 4th February in the lecture room at Hythe Ranges. The office block is to the right of the car park as you come in the main gate. I would like as many of you there as possible as the decisions made there affect everyone for the year ahead. Please send me your apologies if you can't make it.
PISTOL/CARBINE/SHOTGUN SHOOTS I'm aware that we haven't been doing enough of these shoots and I apologise to those that have been waiting. Unfortunately the shoot we had earmarked as a carbine shoot on the 4th February has been cancelled due to the military units changing their allocations. We will be ensuring that more of these shoots take place throughout 2012 as it is an important element ofthe club.
With effect from the 1st April no probationary member will be admitted to any range without a PROBATIONARY MEMBER RANGE PASS. These will only be issued by the secretary and will be valid for initially a 2 month period from the time of application. If the applicant attends during this period and is willing to show commitment the period will be extended. Failure to attend during this period will result in the pass not being extended, the applicants name removed from our probationers list and re-application denied. The reason for this change is simple. On our current list we have people who have never attended and others who have turned up once or twice in a six month period. This is not fair to people who are waiting as places are limited. The only valid probationary membership forms will be those issued and signed by Ian or Kelly Brien. Any other forms that people turn up with will not be valid and they will be denied access to the ranges and sent away. For information on probationary membership please contact Ian or Kelly Brien at membership@lyddrifleclub.com GUESTS Full members of the club are more than welcome to bring a guest as a one off. If you wish to bring a guest along you must let Ian Brien know 2 weeks before the shoot. You must provide their full name and address and date of birth plus any shooting experience that they may have. Ian will then advise which shoot dates are available to bring a guest along to. Under no circumstances should anyone bring a guest along without checking with Ian first and providing full details. Failure to do this will result in them being denied access to the range.
LAND WANTED Does anyone know of any land that's available or may be available for us to establish our own range. We would be looking for around 4 - 5 acres and would be happy to buy, rent or lease which ever suited the landowner. If anyone does know of anything or knows of a bit of land that might suit please let me know or put the landowner in touch with me. You can email me at chairman@lyddrifleclub.com or ring me on 07850 884789
REMOVAL OF
AMMUNITION
PICKING UP USED BRASS It has been pointed out by the range officers that not everyone picks up their used brass after shooting. Could you please ensure that the firing point is clear before leaving even if you are not re using the cases. Thank you.
Range Action & Safety Plan (applicable to all shoots)
Please note that the 11th February shoot replaces the pistol/carbine shoot that was scheduled for the 4th Feb. Unfortunately due to the MOD changing their allocations no shooting can take place then. This will be a fullbore shoot.
The next committee meeting is TBA
